Abstract:

Dr. Sandra Martin of the University of North Carolina and her colleagues discuss African American adolescents' responses to perceived gun carrying by their school mates.

Twenty percent of the students they surveyed reported carrying weapons to school for protection. Over a third were in fear that another student would attack or hurt them in school.
