Approximately 5 percent of adolescents suffer from depression. Additionally, many youth suffer from significant impairment but don't meet the criteria for major depression. This issue examines teenage depression, taking a special look at depression among multiethnic youth, the co-occurrence of depression and substance use, and risk and protective factors.
