Abstract:

Geneva Gay, Ph.D., Professor of Education at the University of Washington, suggests some developmental characteristics of young adolescents of color that are often over looked. In her article, she also proposes some ways that middle level education should be modified to be more responsive to the ethnic and cultural diversity of early adolescents.
