Abstract:

School systems tend to be where service-learning is most often discussed. In contrast, this interview focuses on community-based organizations which are provding service-learning experiences for youth. The Innovation Center for Community and Youth Development is currently working on a grant from Learn and Service America to support service-learning projects in three diverse community-based organizations in Arizona, California, and Connecticut. In this interview, Dr. Carla Roach explores emerging research which shows how the service-learning standards may be playing out in the context of community-based organizations.
