Abstract:

Hispanic students are at high risk for school dropout. In this article, Drs. Katherine Larson and Russell Rumberger describe the program Achievement for Latinos through Academic Success (ALAS) and its effectiveness. ALAS was developed to test a comprehensive approach for educating and graduating highest-risk middle-school Latino youth who live in urban neighborhoods with high concentrations of poverty.
