Abstract:

Authors Ryan and Futterman discuss identity development and how this applies to lesbian, gay and bisexual youth. Additionally, they look at the process of "coming out," how youth are identifying and coming out at earlier ages, and the importance of support during this difficult process. They also discuss the additional stressors and challenges faced by ethnic and racial minority lesbian and gay youth.
