This article, by Drs. Diane Riley and Pat O?Hare, both of the International Harm Reduction Association, defines harm reduction, details its basic principles, then gives a variety of examples of harm reduction techniques.

The most well-known of these examples include syringe exchange programs, methadone programs, and alcohol server intervention programs among many others.
