Based on a recent Developmental Victimization Survey, in the year prior to the survey about half of all youth experienced an assault (including bullying), 1 in 7 experienced child maltreatment, 1 in 12 experienced sexual victimization, and 1 in 3 witnessed victimization indirectly (including domestic violence and community violence). Of these youth, only 31% experienced a single victimization incident. Most youth experienced three separate, different types of victimization.
