It is estimated by the year 2020 the Hispanic population will be the largest minority group in the United States. In 1987, Hispanics represented 18% of all school dropouts, and only 7% of graduates in that class. In 1987, one in ten Hispanic teens gave birth, and only 38% of Hispanic teen mothers continued in school a year after delivery. This 1998 issue of The Prevention Researcher gives counselors, teachers, and others concrete tools and ideas about ways to reach out to the Hispanic youth population.
